WELCOME TO HUASTECA POTOSINA
In a mountainous area of the Huasteca, Xilitla is a town with deep-rooted ancestral traditions of the Nahua and Teenek natives, who live in harmony with nature and modernity. It also boats as part of its history, the Convent of San Agustín, the oldest Hispanic construction in Potosí territory. Or listen to the whisper of waterfalls and rivers that fall into fresh and transparent pools. Enjoy a steaming cup of coffee or chocolate, a tradition that completes an unforgettable day in the Magical Town of Xilitla. Once there you will be compelled to explore!

Located southeast of San Luis Potosí, this Magical Town has traditions that the Nahuas and Teenek brought to the location. It is more of a surreal, magical destination with its beauty, making it unique worldwide.
Here you can find everything from musical instruments to rag dolls and lacquered pots as a typical souvenir.

Huasteca enchiladas with cecina, beef barbecue, pork rinds, carnitas, and zacahuil (a tamale from San Luis that can measure up to 5 meters long) are must-have dishes for all visitors. So also a dulce de leche and, of course, a local coffee, since there are various producers of this aromatic drink here.

Xilitla is nature itself, with mountains, waterfalls, and abundant vegetation. It is not enough to visit the Edward James Sculpture Garden, Las Pozas. In addition to its unique structures in the middle of the jungle, its 37 hectares are destined for ecological conservation. Xilitla and Huasteca Potosina are perfect places for ecotourism. Not to be missed are the Sótano de las Golondrinas, the El Meco waterfalls, and the El Guardian waterfalls.

From May 1st to 15th, you can see the Xilitla Fair and Cockfights. From August 27th to September 2nd, the Fiesta de San Agustín is celebrated, where typical dances, jaripeo, parades, pilgrimages, and more converge.

In addition to the surreal structures and sculptures of the Edward James Sculpture Garden, Las Pozas, Xilitla is a town of elegant mansions. In its central square is the former Augustinian convent, built by missionaries of the same order in 1557 and considered the oldest building in San Luis Potosí.
