WELCOME TO OAXACA
For centuries, millions of tourists have been traveling to Oaxaca to visit the ruins at Monte Alban or Mitla or their beaches at Puerto Escondido. However, not every traveler experiences the authentic Oaxaca. Discover one of the declared World Heritage by Unesco Pueblo Mágico in Mexico.

Oaxaca was founded in 1486 by Aztec soldiers and Ahuitzotl, Emperor of Mexico, who ordered them to occupy the city.
The primitive settlers called it Huaxyacac; when the Spaniards arrived, they called it "Guajaca" because they found it close to a "guaje forest."

With pre-Hispanic roots, the culinary richness of Oaxaca promises unmistakable flavors, from mole, jerky, cecina, grasshoppers, tamales, tlayudas, chocolate, and yolk bread, to mezcal.
In Matatlan, the World Capital of Mezcal, there are various palenques where this drink of the gods is prepared by hand. Taste Oaxaca!

Oaxaca has it all, and beyond its varied traditions, it is a destination with a great variety of ecosystems and rich in biodiversity. It offers beaches, mountains, caves, tropical forests, lakes, rivers, valleys, and waterfalls (even petrified) at Hierve el Agua, where the air is pure and perfect for any travel plan.

At different times of the year, Oaxaca has an event to offer. "Calenda" is one of those celebrations that happen all the time, with Oaxacan women parading and dancing with a basket of flowers on their heads together with the Calenda giant customs. They are very traditional in an Oaxacan wedding.

Oaxaca architecture combines history with the modern, where each space tells a story of its colonial past and the indigenous peoples of the place.
In the Baroque style of New Spain, the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzamán is a clear example of what is remarkable since it is also located in the Historic Center of Oaxaca, a World Heritage Site since 1987 by UNESCO.
