Experience San Cristóbal de las Casas
WELCOME TO SAN CRÍSTOBAL DE LAS CASAS
Visit The beautiful Magic Town of San Cristóbal de las Casas which is located in the Jovel Valley in the country’s most southern state – bordering the country of Guatamala. San Cristobal is the fourth largest town in the state, with arguably the most amazing diversity both culturally and historically. Since the city is on the border, there is a very large mixture of populations that have been blending for centuries, and one of the things that has made this Magic Town one of the most popular in all of Mexico.

San Cristobal It was founded by Diego de Mazariegos in 1528, and originally named Ciudad Real de Chiapa, and was the capital of the province. San Cristóbal de Las Casas is in the heart of the Altos de Chiapas featuring colorful rooftops, flower filled patios, homes with corner balconies, and baroque facades. For our architectural enthusiasts, San Cristobal features many neoclassical and Mudejar style buildings.

San Cristóbal has a varied and exquisite cuisine that stands out both for its forms and flavors. You would savor some of this culinary delights such as posh, sweet beer, coleto bread, pressed peaches, bread soup, coleto roast, cured ham, tamales and chalupas.

This Region of Mexico is one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity hosted in a variety of habitats distributed in the numerous ecosystems. Hence, it is said that, with the exception of the desert and the eternal snows, all the environments presented in the national territory are found in this wonderful land, "Chiapas".

The most important popular celebrations in San Cristóbal de Las Casas are colorful and picturesque events of great convocation, which are part of the intangible heritage that makes this Magical Town so valuable. The festivities begin with the new year, the San Juan Chamula Carnival, the Spring and Peace Fair, the Cervantino festival, among others.
