Did you know that the maguey plant is used to make more than just the well-known mezcal? The ixtle plant is a cousin of the maguey plant and its fibers have a long history of being used for crafts and household needs.
Today, we’ll spend a few hours with one of the few remaining families in Queretaro who practice of the art of ixtle weaving. We’ll learn about the history and process of this ancient craft and create something of our own to take home.
After we’ve collected our hand-made crafts, it’s time for some indulgence! Tasting of local cuisine made with a special blend of “pre-hispanic” and Spanish ingredients.
