- Mexico's Magic Town are very safe but we ask our guests to consider sensible practices, when visiting any major city or tourism destination. Following are some basic suggestions:
- Carry a minimal amount of cash, and use credit cards where possible.
- Take official taxis and avoid taking taxis available on the street. Uber is also available in Mexico
- Avoid showing personal and confidential documentation in public. Leave passports in a secure place provided by your hotel
- Avoid walking at night in isolated areas or avoid taking public transport without being accompanied by a local resident.
- Be vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs.

LANGUAGE
LANGUAGE
- Spanish is the official language in Mexico. However, dialects can vary from region to region.
- In rural areas, people continue to adopt the indigenous languages of their ancestors.
- The Mexican government recognizes over 63 national aboriginal languages, from Zapotec, Mixtec, Yucatec Maya to Nahuatl.
- Learning a few basic Spanish phrases to help you interact with the locals is well worth the effort, and much appreciated.
- In all cases, you will find that English is spoken (hotels, experiences, restaurants, etc.)

- No Visa is required, just a valid passport and a return ticket.
- Mexican pesos are the currency. You can exchange dollars at the airport for pesos, or normally at your departure airport
- Visa and Mastercard are commonly accepted in most hotels, major shops, and restaurants.
- American Express is accepted but not as readily as bankcards (above).
- It is always good to carry a reasonable amount of cash when visiting Pueblos Mágicos, for lunch or for small purchases.

- It is no longer necessary to get specific vaccinations to go visit Mexico. However, it is recommended to get hepatitis-A and typhoid vaccines due to potential contamination in food or water.
- Tap water is not potable, so buying a bottle of water or drinking it with a filter is recommended. Use bottled water whenever needed.
- Many cities in Mexico are located at high altitudes, and while it is uncommon to encounter altitude sickness, we suggest you arranged for some medication in the event this occurs.

- When frequenting places such as restaurants, or bars, tipping iscommon in the 12 – 20% range based on service.
- It is best to carry a little cash with you for tipping or use at local markets where cards may not be accepted.
- Mexican food can spicy, so don’t hesitate to ask for mild or zero spice levels.
- Notify your credit card company of the dates you will be traveling abroad and to which cities.
- USA phone service can work in Mexico without paying an additional cost. Also apps such as WhatsApp or Zoom work well with internet and are free.
